Here is an update for everybody on this week’s EGM / AGM.

Despite the sorry look of the finances all those present voted unanimously to get behind Ashford Town Cricket Club for the 2010 season. Given our financial position and the loss of our Groundsman 2010 will see a dramatic difference in how the club is run. If we are to continue to grow as a club then all playing members will need to do far more than they have in the past as the upkeep of the ground and the raising of money will be entirely in the hands of the membership. That being said I was extremely pleased and impressed by the attitude of the youngsters present who are all determined to put their heart and soul into the club which I think is brilliant – this alone bodes really well for the future.

The officers of the club for 2010 will be as follows:-

Subscriptions and match fees will remain the same as last year as posted on the website on 29th January 2010.

Please can I ask that everybody fully supports the new Captains especially Liam in his first year as 1st XI captain. There is much work to be done and provided we all pull together I see no reason why we can’t have both a very enjoyable and a successful season. That being said the days of just turning up playing cricket and rushing off are long gone as there will be a list of jobs each week that we need to share out and get done.

The new Committee will be meeting for the first time in a couple of week’s time and I will update you with developments straight after. One of the things I desperately want to improve is communication within the club and you have my firm commitment that I will be open and honest with everybody and update all members with all aspects of the club in a timely fashion. Regarding communication I am delighted that Darren Cooper has taken over as Secretary which is such a crucial role and he has already started building an up to date club database.
