Ashford Town Cricket Club is a strange phenomenon, steeped in tradition yet absent of a history. Officially born on 30th January 2008, ATCC is the product of a merger between Ashford Cricket Club and Old Stacians Cricket Club. Both former sides can lay claim to a combined sixteen senior league titles, eighteen senior cup wins and countless junior trophies. A vast array of talent has also passed through the books of the two establishments over the years. To list names would prove a futile undertaking because, with over two hundred years of combined playing history to sift through, the tribute could go on forever. Needless to say, Ashford Town Cricket Club, regardless of a blank honours board, has much to emulate.

In actual fact, the emptiness of the new record books will increase the excitement of these first, formative years of ATCC. With no achievements to beat, the sky is the limit for each and every player. It gives an equal chance to every individual to etch their name onto the radar and start writing a new and comprehensive history for Ashford Town Cricket Club.

Statistician’s Comment:

It is a rare luxury in the world of amateur cricket to boast a complete set of statistics from the year of club foundation, yet something that ATCC can proudly claim. As a local 'Statto' once wrote, 'statistics offer an intriguing insight into the game'. They allow the cricketer to follow his progress, admire his success and give weight to the memories. Far from being ‘just numbers’, statistics fuel debate and spark lively conversation, and ought to be a feature of any thriving sports club. I am in the process of publishing a complete statistics overview of our first season but as a taster (and with the help of our Webmaster) I have uploaded the highlights of the 2008 Kent League season for your information (see the new "Statistics" section on the left)…enjoy.
